Little Sources of Inspiration

There's a quaint local farm in my neighborhood that sells cute boxes with inspirational quotes. When I saw this one, I just had to buy it. The message reminded me that as human beings, we will always be works in progress.

This quote indicates that we can always reinvent ourselves. We can start this journey by doing things out side of our comfort zones. We constantly tell ourselves  that we can't do something, and usually have a list of excuses to back it up.

You have to tear up the list of excuses, and put yourself out there. You owe it to yourself. It takes tiny steps, and sometimes its not even the destination that matters but the journey that changes us. Herman Hesse's novel, Siddhartha, presents the Buddha as a man who realizes after a long search for enlightenment that it was his journey and wisdom that provided him with his renowned perspective. His journey from prince to pauper to otherworldly figure included living in poverty, falling in love and becoming a father. All parts of a journey that lead to enlightenment.

While we may never reach the same sphere of enlightenment as the Buddha, the quote on the box reminds us that life is a constant search for self. We are shaped by our world, our past and most importantly, our attitudes. This quote is reminds me of the words of Heraclitus, the ancient Greek philosopher who said, "Whoever cannot seek the unforseen sees nothing, for the known way is an impasse."

These inspirational quotes keep me in focus as I prepare to launch my stationery company. I'm always growing in my business- there are plenty of inspirational clients and designs. Our ability to embrace flexibility and keep an open mind allows us to expand our horizons personally and professionally.
